| The vessel characteristics database, maintained by shipbrokers, serves as the database engine for the IMX platforms. |
| In June 1999 the company was acquired by Strategic Software offering their client base, and the shipping industry as a whole, an internet based information service. |
| MaritimeData's services are based on data compiled from expert sources, all of whom are specialists in their field. Current data source partners include BRL Shipping Consultants, E.A. Gibson Shipbrokers and The Baltic Exchange. |
